Eric Monteil

Eric Monteil is a Bangkok-based French entrepreneur, founder of Art Consulting Asia and MyArtsome. He is also a long-time art enthusiast, curator, consultant, collector, photographer, and interior decorator with twelve years of experience in the field. On a personal level, he is an avid biker and an experienced hang gliding, paragliding, and microlight pilot/instructor.

Eric's journey into the art sector in 2010 was preceded by several diverse professional experiences. He initially studied chemistry and physics at the Ecole Nationale de Chimie Physique et Biologie in Paris, France, before embarking on a professional career at L'Oreal Research Centre, where he worked for eight years. Fuelled by his passion for aerial sports, Eric set up his first business in 1997, training pilots in hang gliding, paragliding, and microlight practices. In 2003, after graduating with an Executive MBA from Reims Management School (now Neoma Business School), Eric made his second professional move. From 2003 to 2010, he worked in the digital industry for several startups as a business development manager at Arisem, Epsilon Finance, and BeeLight, as well as co-founding software editor GutenbergPresse in 2007.

After the acquisition of GutenbergPresse by CDROM-SNi (now Eureka Cision) in early 2010, Eric took a career break to travel throughout Southeast Asia. During a seven-month motorcycle trip across Vietnam, Cambodia, Laos, Thailand, Myanmar, and Indonesia, he was inspired with art business ideas, ultimately leading him to move to Bangkok in early 2011. There, he launched the art gallery Rock Around Asia, located at the Novotel Suvarnabhumi Airport Hotel. However, following the military coup that disrupted Thailand in 2014, Eric was forced to close his art gallery. Determined to capitalise on his experience, Eric swiftly transitioned to consulting, founding Art Consulting Asia (2017) and recently MyArtsome (2023).
